卡特彼勒CAT柴油发动机中冷器装在Ｖ型的中心，具有一个充冷剂的芯体。３５１６卡特彼勒柴油机有两个芯体。来自水泵(３)的冷却液经管(２)进入中冷器，然后，通过芯体流出中冷器，经过一不同的管进入缸体的后面。
